Summary:

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

Yet she spares Cas's life.

Review:

Saving people, hunting things, family business? A book with Supernatural vibes in it? I'M IN!

Supernatural has always been my favorite show. So when I read the synopsis for this book, I knew I have to read this.

So, the main character name is Cas. Castiel? No, it's Cassio, which is weird for me, but I didn't really pay attention to characters name. Cassio is looking for the monster who killed his father, while "practicing" and continuing his father's work as a Hunter. Sounds familiar? He's constantly moving, searching for urban legends. And then he moves to Thunder Bay to check on this urban legend. Anna.

Overall, the plot and the characters are okay. Cas is really tough and doesn't want to get close with anyone. Perfectly understandable, considering his position. He's the combination of Sam and Dean Winchester. The secondary characters are all okay, they're not annoying at all. And the moster/ghosts? They're all totaly creepy. I didn't read this book at night because some parts creeps me out. And the ending really hooked me.

So why only 3 stars? THE ROMANCE. Nope. No No No. Big fat NO. There shouldn't be any insta-love in this book. A hunter should've known better than to fall in love immediately with a ghost. And how could Anna restrain herself only with Cas? Nonsense. The romance is really absurd.

I will consider reading the second book, and ignore the romantic nonsense in this book.

    1. If you like Supernatural (the TV show) with romantic twist, then you should read it soon! Well I just google some random images and added the bubble speech for the header and the wrap up tag, and I grab the button from iconfinder. Thanks anyway! :)
