Review:
"Long cold nights are for falling in love"
That's the short summary at the back of the book. I've been eyeing this gorgeous edition for such a long time. The teal, rubbery thick cover, gold lettering, and christmas lights on the cover, pink paper and gold bookmark, it just screams "BUY ME" to me. And when I had it, I just looking for the perfect opportunity to read it. We don't have winter in my country, so I read when I was joining the homestay programme. I know, it was in the middle of the year, not exactly the perfect time to read a holiday romance. But, it was winter in Australia, it was pretty cold, and that was as close as I could get to a perfect weather to read this book :(
Anyways.
Anyways.
This book really lives up to my expectations. 12 stories from 12 different authors, some name are really well-known in the YA genre, so I definitely had high expectations about this book. All the 12 stories are set around Christmas/NYE holiday season. I loved most of the stories. Some of them are really cheesy, but I still love them to bits. Overall, this book made me feel warm, fuzzy and christmas-y (even though it was July)
Any insta-love? Yes, because most of the stories sets in one night, so they met and fell for each other instantly. But not all of them are insta love. And it's not all about romance, there's also a story about family. And not all of them sets in the real world, some of them set in an entirely different world.
My favorite story is going to be Midnights by Rainbow Rowell, because I always loved stories about best friends that eventually fall for each other. And the characters are just so cute! And I also loved Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan. The writing style is very David Levithan-ish; honest, rude, but hilarious.
It's definitely better than Let it Snow (sorry guys), and I'm definitely going to re-read it on Christmas holidays. Highly recommended.

I loved Midnights as well! I'd definitely read this over Let It Snow :) Great post
ReplyDeleteYeah, compared to this book, Let It Snow feels kind of.. flat, so I liked this book better:)
DeleteI've heard so much about those authors! I've going to have to check this book out soon! Great review :)

Thanks! You should read it, it's perfect for the holiday season, and the authors are going to release a summer anthology next year I think :)
