The Month I Devoured All The Books {July Wrap Up & August TBR}
12:00 PMI don't know about you guys, but the weather in Indonesia really pleases me right now. Most of you are enjoying Summer, and it should be Summer in Indonesia. But it has been raining A LOT these days, and even when it's not raining, it's mostly cloudy. Summer in Indonesia is really crazy, really hot, like satan's-oven hot. So I'm really pleased it's raining a lot because how cold it is! It's like 28° C at day and 24° C at night! It also means the lighting is really sucks for taking pictures (not that I take that many pictures, but still) and it's a struggle to get up from my bed and do stuffs😂😂😂
- Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell // ✰.5
Annoying main characters, forced romance, special snowflake at its finest, but I really like the setting. - The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan // ✰✰✰✰.5
Stakes are getting higher, intriguing labyrinth and the beginning of a 5 people squad in this book - Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson // ✰✰✰✰
I dislike the main characters, but bawling my eyes out in the end. - The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan // ✰✰✰✰✰++++
Second time reading it and it still blew me away to Tartarus with its awesomeness. Hands down the best book Rick's ever written. - Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰✰
Creepy ghost that I'm not sure even the Winchesters could handle set in an Ikea knockoff. - The Kingdom of Oceana by Mitchell Charles {ARC} // ✰✰✰
Really unique book that would make you feel like you're transported into ancient Hawaii. - The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough // ✰✰✰
A book that should've make me fall in love, but turns out it doesn't quite meet my expectations. - London Belongs to Us by Sarah Manning {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰.5
A really fun, travelling around London midnight adventure with 2 french boys and other amazing side characters. - Empire of Dust by Eleanor Herman {ARC} // ✰✰.5
Also a book that I should've enjoy, but the pacing and the too-many povs make it a struggle for me to read. - Marshmallow Skye by Cathy Cassidy {re-read} // ✰✰✰
Interesting "echo of the past" plot with characters' name that are too sweet for me and (mostly) accurate potrayal of 13 year old girls.
Whelp. I can't believe at the end of next month uni will start! 4 months holiday feel like passing in a blur. I'm also moving out... and I'm really nervous about it! Which is why next month I might not have much time to read. All these books are to complete Summer Bingo.
- Seed by Lisa Heathfield // This book has been collecting dust on my shelf, and it also has yellow cover.
- City of Shadows by Pippa DaCosta // Also an ARC, that I didn't realize that it was a second book *sigh*
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell // I dislike this the first time, but I might enjoy it now. Who knows, maybe I'll understand how Cat feels since I'm in her position next month.
- Other books are undecided ;)
- Becca @ Becca and Books created a bookish game where you guess which quotes is from bible and which one from books (I fail. I guess bible for every quote😂) and the YA book workout. Trust me, you'll be in shape at the end of Summer by doing this!

Congrats on you b-day! Also I'm so jealous!!! I need to go to comic con one day...
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope this comic con would be awesome though, since it's only the 2nd time it's ever been held in Indonesia!
DeleteHappy birthday! This month was incredibly eventful in bookish news, especially with the release of the Cursed Child! I'm glad you enjoyed Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian, PJO is definitely one of my favorite series of all time. I haven't read any of the books on your August TBR list, so it looks like I have some inspiration for books to add to mine:)
ReplyDeleteClaire @ Cover to Cover✨
Thank you Claire! Yep, TCC basically drowned any other books that released near it :D PJO is also one of my favorite series! *gives you blue cake*
DeleteYou read so many books! YES <3 I enjoyed Second Chance Summer and thought the main characters were alright, but I didn't give it a 5-star rating simply because the ending broke me and had me weeping eventually. And I didn't like how it made me cry, especially because it was about cancer, and all the more it hurt because I lost my favorite teacher at school from the illness.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great reading month there! And I'm happy you get to go to a Comic Con! I don't really go to cons, but I like how there are guest stars coming there :) You have to let me know who attends, yeah? Haha.
Jillian @ Jillian's Books
I'm sorry about that! Sometimes when book hits too close to home, it also makes me uncomfortable. I would definitely give an update on who the guest is! :D
DeleteAw, The Game of Love and Death didn't live up to your expectations? That sucks - it seems really good. OOh you got tickets to Comic Con! I hope you have loads of fun there and I hope you meet some stars!
ReplyDeleteCloe @ Mornings and Epilogues
I know.. I also expecting a lot from it! Thank you! I hope the stars won't dissapoint :D
DeleteI live in Greece and usually the weather is 30C here so I know exactly what you mean!!
ReplyDeleteI read Fangirl and didn't really like it, but I plan to read it again bc I think I wasn't in the mood to read it and I feel like it deserves a second chance. Hope you enjoy it more.
Love your recaps!
Eliza from The Bookish Universe
I know right? Even a 28C weather feels like a blessing xD Greece is such a beautiful country! I wish I could visit it one day! Ahem. I do think Fangirl deserve a second chance. I'm curious why everyone is worshipping this book! xD
DeleteHappy late birthday! Also, wow you did amazing at reading this month! This month was, unfortunately, the month I fell into a reading slump, which absolutely SUCKED since it's also the last month to read before school starts. I really want to reread the PJO series but 1) I never have the time! and 2) I don't even have the complete series, which is completely absurd to me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Princessica of Books!
Thank you! Ahh I wish you could devour a lot of books next month to pay for this month slump! Let me give you a sage advice that would be good for you but bad for your wallet: buy the whole series! xD
DeleteHappy belated birthday! And I hope you have a great time at your comic con! I started Game of Thrones recently and I'm really liking it so far. The Starks are my favorites. Good luck with your reread of Fangirl. I really enjoyed it but I had problems with Cath and din't seem to love the story as much as everyone else did... But that cover, am I right? Anyway, have an awesome August, Tasya!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Idk why but the starks weren't my favorite when I started. Cersei is xD I also had problem with Cath, and yep, you know me so well! The cover is so pretyyyy. I hope you'll have an amazing august too!
DeleteI'm glad you're enjoying the Riordan books, I liked them a lot when I read them (though that was way before I started blogging).
ReplyDeleteI also loved Fangirl, so I hope you'll have more luck with it this time!
And I'd love to go to Comic Con, not just for the celebrities but for the awesome cosplay! :)
Riordan books are the best! And yes, other than the celebs, the cosplays, the merchandise, and the feeling of gathering together with the people that love the same passion as you is amazing! :)
DeleteHappy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really liked Unhooked haha BUT You know, it was my first Peter Pan retelling, so that probably made me a little biased haha. Also, GAME OF THRONES. YES. THAT ENDING THOUGH.
Molly @ Molly's Book Nook
Thank you Molly! I literally drag myself through the book and skim read the last quarter of the book xD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT SEASON.
DeleteOh man, I do not miss Indonesian heat, but yay for all the rain! I hope you will enjoy Comic-Con! Good luck with university - it should be a fantastic time :D
ReplyDeleteMe too! The rain is kind of a blessing! Thank you!
