Another Suicide Squad Post: What Went Wrong With It

Suicide Squad is one of the most hyped movie of 2016. I already wrote my review, right after I came out of the movie, but then I keep thinking about what was wrong about it, 12 dayas after watching it. And so I decided to elaborate about what went wrong with the movie. I did enjoy it while watching it, I have my complaints but it was a decent movie. But I guess I just realize how much I wanted it to be that fun, dark movie that was promised.

Warning: I will compare some aspects of the movie with some marvel movies. Don't do any marvel vs dc shit, I love both of them equally so please, stay civil with each other. All I'm trying to do is to point out what's wrong with it.

The plot was really convulted. The first half was interesting, but the second half... let’s just say it went downhill fast. I thought they were created to fight meta humans, so why they weren’t tasked with dealing with the evil super threat? Why were they tasked to save one woman only? What was the point? The villains are also really weak. The boy has no point being in the movie, and the girl building machine that we don’t know what is the function. “destroying the world” could be anything. Elaborate please. Their motivation is also pretty unclear.
No interaction between the squad. It’s all about harley and deadshot. This is where dc miss the most. Killer Croc only has 1 line to harley. Katana doesn’t speak to anyone but Flag. Boomerang doesn’t speak Killer Croc. Wth? Aren’t they suppose to be a squad? Im not comparing, but even though it’s obvious that cap and iron man are the main char in the avengers, hawkeye, blackwidow, and banner/hulk stil has plenty dialogues. Heck, even maria hil has more dialogue than killer croc, and she’s not exactly the main core of the avengers. The dynamic between the team is what we don’t see in ss, and what makes it somewhat dry.
How The Joker is potrayed. Joker is one of the hype machine for this movie*, everyone wants to see how "the next joker" is, especially since the last one was spectacular. We were all hoping for something spectacular and crazy. And then we got only 11 minute scene and the Joker in this movie is potrayed as some sort of love sick boy doing anything to save his babe. The last Joker blew things up, kill batman’s love interest and gotham hero. This Joker is all about Harley. Joker is one of the most deadliest villain ever, and yet he’s romanticized in this movie. Maybe if they put in the deleted scene where Joker hits Harley and kill Eisenberg's character, the reception would be better because it still shows the violent and unpredictable side of Joker. But no. All we got is how hard Joker tried to save Harley. I find it hard to separate one from the other, I looked for Joker whenever Harley appeared, and vice versa. They were inseperable, and it's really bad how our mad Joker reduced into "Harley's boyfriend".
*I’m also pissed with how much scene got cut. I know it’s a squad movie, not Joker, but Jared was really excited. He dyed his hair and shaved his eyebrows, sharing pics and snapchat, do impressionation on concerts and camp mars, sending creepy gifts (which, i don’t like tbh. I don’t think the Joker would do that). Then they cut most of his scenes and leave only the romantic scene, and it makes his joker look bad! It’s like his joker isn’t even a Joker, only a teenage, romanticized version of Joker.
Which brings me to my next point, this movie shouldn’t be pg-13! Dc is known for its darker tone, so why make it pg 13?? I want to see more action. They are supposed to be the baddest villain, and yet they don’t swear, kill, or hit anyone. They barely even bantering with each other! It’s like they just click with each other, which is kinda absurd considering villains should've have more ego and bad thoughts compared to heroes (even tony and steve, batman and superman fights). Um... excuse me but where it the villain? The lack of violence make it's hard to believe how they're supposed to be the bad guys. Why don’t make it R like deadpool? The pg-13 rating gives too much constraint for the creativity and action.

Suicide Squad Movie Review

So here I am, fresh out of the cinema, sitting in front of my laptop and typing what I think about the movie. Suicide Squad is one of my most anticipated movie of the year, and I'm so happy I see it on it's first day!

In case any of you is living under the rock, basically, Suicide Squad is a task force that are made from villains to protect the world. How interesting does that sound? I mean, we have our heroes gang. The Avengers. Guardians of the Galaxy. Star Trek. Star Wars. Order of the Phoenix. And finally, we get our villains gang! Yay! It also has well-known stars, as well as newcomers.

While I really enjoyed the movie, there are, unfortunately, some things that are miss for me. I'll write this review in a list form to make it easier for you guys. Don't worry, it doesn't have any spoiler!

The Good

The characters as an individual is amazing. All of them are really different and unique, I really want to know them all more. But from what we already know, each of them has an interesting backstory.
Jared freaking Leto. His acting as the Joker is pretty amazing. He scares me a bit. I usually fall for the bad guys, but even I can see how dangerous the Joker is. He's not a character to be romanticized and to fall in love with. Also, there is this scene where the real Jared Leto appear, not the one with Joker make up, and the echelon inside me just can't handle him.
I realize how problematic Joker is, but I really like the relationship between Joker and Harley! (I know how abusive they are in the comic)
Diablo. He's so freaking awesome, both as a person and his power.
Margot Robbie's acting as Harley Quinn is A+++. Out of the topic, but she's really lucky to starred movies with 2 hotties this year (Alexander Skarsgård and Jared Leto)
The visual is amazing.
The humor in this movie also really made me laugh out loud several times.
Also, the soundtrack is amazing.

The Bad

Deadshot and Harley Quinn are like the main player in the gang, while the rest of them are just side characters. The rest of them are also amazing guys, and I really want to know more about them!
Not enough Joker. He seems like a really big deal in the promotion, but he only get little screen time in the movie.
Like I said above, Jared's acting as the Joker is amazing, but the lack of screen time makes Joker's craziness doesn't seem really visible and doesn't really leave any impression. Granted, this movie is about the squad, not Joker. But I was still hoping for something more.
I don't really like Cara's acting in this one?? I haven't seen any of her movies tho so idk if it's just this movie or on others.
The plot is a bit convulted. It jumps from one thing to another, and it just doesn't flow really well.

Overall rating: 7.5/10

Would I see it again? Yes.

Captain America: Civil War Movie Review

The most hyped up movie of 2016 is finally here guys! Yes, Captain America: Civil War is now playing on your nearest theatre, so if you haven't watch it yet, then go watch it!

Before we start, let me make it clear that I'm team Cap. Because well, as we all know, by quoting Nick Fury, the council always make stupid ass decision. They didn't approve The Avengers, the release missiles to Manhattan, and they were infiltrated by Hydra. How could you trust something like that? I do get Tony's point, but he didn't go through the stuff Steve's went through in CA:TWS so I kind of understand why he doesn't agree with Steve. (I prefer my babies not fighting though).

The movie premiered yesterday in my country (27 of April) and I watched it on its first day. You can book the ticket since two weeks ago, and let me tell you guys, it's really really crowded. I got the tickets of course, but only after looking at 3 theatres, and I got the night show. WHAAT. So can you imagine the wait until we can get into the theatre and until the lights go out. It's nerve wracking really. I mean, it's the most hyped up movie of the year!! How will it turn out?

Have no fear, dear friends. Here I am to tell you: all is well. It's more than well really. IT'S AMAZING. I watched it yesterday and I'm already craving to watch it again today. I mean, it's different from what I expected, and the movie itself is kind of sends different plot from what the trailer suggest. The trailer suggest that the fight is because of Bucky and not because of the Accords, but it's not that. So yeah, that's what really nagging me. But other than that, it's definitely worth the wait.

This movie really delivers. It has great amazing action scenes, but not too much that we can't understand the plot. It jumps from one place to the other, but they're still connected. The story is engaging and really fun, it doesn't feel like it runs for two and a half hour. The villain isn't as creepy or threatening as the other ones in other Marvel movie, but he's cunning as hell.

This movie is also gives a really good introduction to Black Panther and Spiderman. That first Spiderman scene? It's really hilarious and feels the geek Peter Parker is. And he got I think solid half an hour in the movie, which is really awesome. I really enjoyed his scenes. And Black Panther. The whole movie I was just like "DAAAAAAMNNN T'CHALLA". He really kicks a lot of ass, like the trailer implied.

The actings are fantastic, they managed to bring out the typical Avengers act, laid back and hilarious, but also managed to showcase the inner struggles the characters have. The dynamic between the characters is so damn good. I really love Sam/Steve/Bucky dynamic. They work really well. And as for other relationship.... One ship is sailing, other is sinking, and one is a notp {block the text to see the spoiler} Vision/Wanda is sailing. YAAAASSS. They're so cute and just beautiful together omg<33 On the other hand, I don't really ship stucky other than as a brotp, but that one is sinking too because of the ending. While the notp is.... Steve/Sharon. C'mon guys, Peggy's body hasn't even start decomposing yet and you already kissing???? {spoiler ends}. That hangar fighting scene was epic and hilarious. It showcases amazing power and typical funny, laid back, Avengers fighting scene. It's just 100% gold and definitely one of the most memorable scene in the movie history.

The star of this movie for me are Bucky and Sam. Sam is really cool and funny, but he's also loyal to Cap, never questioning his decisions. He trusts Cap 100% percent, even when it comes to Bucky (whom everyone knows as the notorious Winter Soldier). Sam and Steve is like Rhodey and Tony. Bucky... Oh my, I just want to hug him and tell him it's going to be okay! He's just so confused and I'm not even sure he trusts himself. But really, Seb's acting is breathtaking, he could convey so much with only his expessions and body language. We could see the difference clearly between bad Bucky and good Bucky. (And Seb is such a beautiful and kind hearted human being, so that's a plus. Not related, but I wish he would appear as Jefferson in OUaT again though!). Also Tony Stark. Let's not forget about him. RDJ does a really amazing job potraying a conflicted Tony, the other side of Tony Stark that's more serious and take responsibility and actually feel guilt. The human side of Tony Stark. It's really amazing and it's potrayed really well!

So did I enjoyed it? Absolutely! Will I watch it again? Damn yes, if I have the time. This movie really worth the hype and the wait. I really can't wait until the DVD is released so I could watch it over and over.

And now, the wait for X-Men: Apocalypse, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War has officially begun.
