From bestselling author Colleen Hoover, comes a new novel about risking everything for love -and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there's no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn't expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping some major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can't seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

“I love you so much.” His voice is breathless and full of fear. “I’ll love you forever. Even when I can’t." My tears fall harder at his words. “And I’ll love you forever. Even when I shouldn't.”

This is my first NA book, and in my opinion it's definitely darker than YA. It still blowns me away though. It's heartbreaking and frustrating at some points (in a good way) because it's like they're stuck in the moment. I love the concept of confessions turned into art. Confesions from strangers, and from the characters. And the artworks in this book are amazing, it connects perfectly with the confessions. Danny O'Connor is such an amazing artist, all the colors and the way he paints are just unique for me. You could see more of his art here.

“There are people you meet that you get to know, and then there are people you meet that you already know."

I love the connection between Auburn and Owen, how deep they feel for each other. Both of them had been let down by life, and they're trying to put their life back and trying to be better. It feels quite insta-lovey at first, but that ending wraps everything perfectly. Still,  I find some parts too vulgar for my taste, but hey it's New Adult, so I'm not complaining.

I also love how all the characters are connected to each other and play important part in the story. Trey is a total creep, and Emory was really badass with that gun! I know at one point Callahan Gentry will have a use for this plot, and it's pretty predictable how's it all going to turn out in the end. It's also quite predictable at some other points. I think it's too cliche, but I actually really enjoyed it.

The characters and the confessions are really human, it's quite easy to connect with them. It's just soooo good. If you want to read it, but haven't read it until now, then you should read it soon. This book really worth your time, you won't regret it.

  1. Sadly I wrote Colleen Hoover off a few books ago, after loving both her young adult series. Her new adult books haven't really sat well with me and it felt as though she lost that magic she had before she became traditionally published. But this one doesn't sound too bad. I couldn't agree more about the realness of her characters, probably why I'll still reluctantly give this one a read too. Wonderful review Tasya, really enjoyed it <3

  2. This is my first read from Colleen Hoover and good to know I wasn't disappointed! I super loved this so I'm glad you did too. This has became the reason why I started to read more of her works. Totally on point when you stated that the characters were easy to relate to, because honestly they were fresh and very real to me when I was reading this. :D Awesome review, Tasya! xx
