The New Chapter of My Life {August Wrap Up & September TBR}

Where does the time go?? I can't believe my 4 months holiday is over! It doesn't feel like 4 months, it feels like only 1 month. August has ended, and with it, my holiday. It has been a month that filled with goodbyes. Uni started this month for all of my friends, so I've been spending a lot of time with my friends. One by one they're moving away, and halfway through the month, it's just really weird to hang out with only 1 or 2 people, when usually there could be 10 people present.
And then it's my turn to leave, and I was really nervous omg. What if I can't fit in?? If I don't like the atmosphere? I started college like, 2 weeks ago, and while it was really hectic, turns out I really enjoyed it! But it also means I barely had time to read, and it shows. I read 10 books last month, but I only read 4 this month. No worries though, I'll just try to take everything slowly! 
- CITY OF SHADOWS by Pippa Da Costa {ARC} // ✰.5This book reminds me why I don't read paranormal genre anymore: annoying MC, that keep mentioning how hot the fae and the love interest is and can't get her head out of her selfish thoughts.
- MISS MAYHEM by Rachel Hawkins // ✰✰✰.5It wasn't as fun as Rebel Belle, but it's still entertaining and open my eyes about certain characters.
- THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle // ✰✰✰.5
- ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES by Jennifer Niven // ✰✰✰✰.75I didn't cry. But that doesn't mean that this book doesn't make a mess of me.
So.. I really don't know what I want to read next month, mainly because I'm afraid I'll be too busy with college. The first year is the most hectic, having to adapt and do the task. All the books in this list is only a possible TBR.
- THE GIRL WHO DRANK THE MOON by Kerry Barnhill
- Maybe re-reading DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE, DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT in preparation to read DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS.
- DEATHLESS by Catherynne M. Valente
- I'm officially a college student! *throws confetti* The first few nights living alone was really lonely, like there aren't any background noise like tv or people speaking at all, but as the week goes on I really appreciate the silence after a hectic day at the college! I also learn that keeping things tidy and organized is really hard... The people in my new college is really friendly, but the task was really hectic... I enjoyed it tho. Pulling all nighters with friends trying to finish a project has always been one of my favorite things to do.
- Comic con update: Brianna Hildebrand is coming to Indonesia! I admit I'm bummed it wasn't Seb or Chris, but Brianna is pretty cool too :)
- In case you hasn't notice, there has been a lot of twitter parties going on and I love every single one of them.
- But that doesn't mean that I love the SJM drama that happened really recently. I want to say somehing. First of all, I've read only Throne of Glass, and while I was enjoyed it, I didn't love it. I know what will happened in the next books, which is why I'm hesistant continuing with the series. BUT I DIDN'T ATTACK THE AUTHOR. If you don't like the book, complain about it on goodreads. Write a review about why you hated it, then stop reading the series. You don't have to continue if you don't like it, no one forces you to read the next books. You can stop. You don't have to give a freaking unreleased book a low rating without reading it, you don't have to send death threats to the authors. Just. Stop. Reading. The. Fucking. Book/Series. Criticizing the book means you dislike the art, the book, the fictional thing. Criticising the author, or sending her death threats, means you dislike her as a person. I haven't met Sarah in person, but EVERYONE says she's a really sweet person. Please please please know the difference.
- Also, so what if she's doing it for the money? SHE'S AN AUTHOR. That's where she gets her money to cover her basic needs from. Writing a book is her job, of course she's doing it for the money smh.

College is a fun and exciting time! I hope you get to settle in, explore your options, and find people who you will click with. Understandably you'll be busy, but you're going to need some down time from all that work. Best of luck! :)

DeleteCongrats on college! It's a stressful transition, but it gets better as time goes on. I just finished Throne of Glass, but don't know what happens in the rest of the books but I heard about the author being attacked for something. And this was in the midst of queer baiting drama with other authors. And I agree with you. Criticizing the work is what we do as bloggers. But to go and attack a person makes no sense. It's just abusive and ridiculous. Hopefully people learn...

Thank you! Basically everyone says it went downhill after the first 3 books, and the 5th book is like ACOMAF 2.0. YES, because we review the work, not the person. She's a living breathing person, not a fictional thing. I don't get why it is so hard to understand smh.

DeleteCongrats on being a college student!! I just ended that phase and let me tell you, enjoy it. Enjoy it to the max, even the studying. Because searching for a job and adulting isn't easy lol I really liked AtBP! It was a slow read but I resonated so much with it that it holds a special place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm not really interested in reading the rest of the ToG books. I liked ToG but not enough to continue. Plus there are so many love interests and I just can't/won't deal with that.

Thank you haha! I wasn't sure I would enjoy AtBP, but in the end it broke me! I think it still gives me a book hangover... I wasn't sure about the last 3 books in the series... All the new characters, the change in direction and etc.. especially with all the drama happening recently.
DeleteCongratulations on being a college student! I moved out for college too (I actually moved overseas, and hey, I'm from Indonesia as well, HELLO!) and I actually LOVED living alone, haha. Definitely one of the best things about college, imo, so I hope you'll enjoy it more and more as you get used to it. :)

WHATTT. HIIIII *waves excitedly* I thought you're from Melbourne?? I wanted to study overseas but I don't think I'm ready for that HUGE change, so maybe I'll do it for my master's study. Me too! It's only 3 weeks but I definitely feel more comfortable in "kosan" than home haha!
